Killer Pregnancy 🤰
When I see women with their 6th , 7th ,8th ... pregnancy in this century, I mean these times we're in now; all I say is wow, just wow, you're the real MVP! Or do you have a better reaction?🤷 Feel free to lend me.
Let me tell you the story of a woman with pregnancy number ten, yes you read right 1 2 3 4 ...10!
Tenth pregnancy, 7girls , 2boys ; lost one girl and one boy; left with 6girls and one boy. She clearly wanted more boys .
Well it was time for delivery and like her other pregnancies, she expected to go in and come out with the baby after sometime, but the forces that be had something different in stock for her! Trust me not to keep any part of the gist from you , so keep reading!
On the day of delivery , she went to the hospital (I'm glad that she at least went to the hospital ) . Erm, by the way did I mention that she was in her forties? I probably skipped that. Being in her forties put her at some risks of some complications associated with child birth.
She suddenly started having fits (let's just say she started convulsing/ jerking), which would only be as a result of an unmanaged elevated blood pressure . It became too much for the hospital to handle and so she was referred to a better facility.
On arrival, doctors swung to action, drugs were administered ,all that needed to be done was done including surgery. Fortunately for her , they both came out alive — mother and the BABY GIRL! ; buuuuuuuut unfortunately she came out, unconscious.
It was the start of another battle; managing an unconscious mom and the new born.
Doctors and nurses worked, prayers went up and finally answers came down. She regained consciousness buuuuuuuuut she had a stroke sadly. One part of her body was paralyzed and she had to be in a wheelchair—so much for coming to the hospital to simply have a baby.
This short story i just narrated happened in the space of three months , yes she ended up spending three moñths in the hospital. Asides the issues that came up, the doctors insisted on keeping her in the hospital till her body was strong enough for an IUCD insertion. Incase you do not know what an IUCD is, I'll tell you. It stands for Intrauterine contraceptive device, it's a form of family planning. In other news the doctors wanted to make sure she doesn't get pregnant— at least not anytime soon (because if she decides to, who are you to ask her not to?🤷 It's her body, the best you can do is counsel , but the final decision is solely hers to make!)
I'm glad she made it out of everything alive. Needless to say, this could happen to anyone regardless of the age or number of pregnancy. It's safe to add that regular antenatal visits and early presentation to the hospital in the case of any abnormality goes a long way in preventing complications .One would just expect that with her age and number of children, she wouldn't attempt to keep having children.
Anyways she was lucky , not everyone always is. And if you're pregnant🤰 reading this , I wish you a safe and complication free delivery 😘
Thank you for reading
Love always 💚

ReplyDeleteAgain wow, just wow, because I dunno what to say, is there somewhere they share awards for having plenty children,🤷🤷🤷. Don't they even think of their life???
DeleteNice piece. One question though, does the insistence of the doctors that she remains in the hospital until her body is strong enough for an IUCD mean they were gonna insert it without her conscent?
