Matron , he's not stable ooo!!!😱😱
Usually my Matron would stand by me and watch me give the injections, telling me to divide the buttocks into four quadrants with the wet cotton wool. Although most of these would be done using gestures (we sure didn't want the patients feeling like they were being handled by a novice lol😄). After some time she was confident that I could give injections, so she'd just let me do my thing and she was no longer standing by me .
This would be like the second time I was giving an injection without her supervision. It felt really good mostly because I had just finished 200l and in the few times I went for clinical postings , I didn't have any opportunity to give and injection. I was super excited about resuming 300l with this new skill 😝.
As soon as the guy lowered his trousers, OMG🤭🤭 I was faced with the blackest butt I had ever seen in my journey as a nurse and till date I've not seen any blacker butt!😂😂😂. TBH it took the the 'ethicality', professionalism in me and most importantly the Grace of God almighty for me not to laugh out loud .
I went ahead to do as I was taught ;I divided the but into four , inserted the needle into the upper outer quadrant, the next step was to withdraw, as soon as I did , I saw blood😲. Seeing blood while giving an intramuscular injection is abnormal, you should re-insert , make sure you're not seeing blood before giving. But as a novice I told the guy to hold on while I went to call my Matron.
Under her supervision, I went ahead to reinsert the needle, a little blood came out but my Matron assured me it was from the first insertion. She then walked away while I gave.
As expected , the man dressed up and picked his bag ready to leave, no sooner had he taken the first step than he came staggering and wobbling till he fell to the ground with a fairly loud thud!
"Jehovah 🙆🙆,
I don kill person,
Heiii God oo, but I asked matron and she asked me to push.
My career hasn't even started but it's over already"
The only thing I managed to do at that point; "matron , he's not stable ooo" for someone who was already on the floor; not stable , I should have screamed " he's dead oo" but I didn't want to scare the matron unnecessarily.
She came out, we pulled efforts together and lifted him off the floor, loosened his shirt a little and helped him relax and like magic he was 'stable' in no time. We later discovered that he had not eaten and it was about mid-day. We got him a bottle of soda, allowed him rest a little before he finally left.
Well till date, I haven't seen blood while giving an injection, neither have I made a patient unstable 😂. Somebody shout hallelujah!!!

😂😂😂😂
