New Mommy 😅

Pain can mess with your thoughts and speech. You'd just say things that you shouldn't say normally. You are not you at that moment. And trust me, it's worse when it's labour pain.

I had this patient in labour, it was her first baby. Let me quickly chip in the fact that I have a special connection with first time mommies 😍😍 . I can't say why exactly, but I'm usually super excited to be part of the journey to a new phase of their life. And when everything ends well , it's usually a happy scene.

Like every labour/ childbirth story. She was in "sifia" pains and she wasn't having it at all. It was obviously more than she had prepared for 😂. No, I'm no laughing (I mean how dare I laugh when I'm yet to dance to that music), but you should have seen her display. She gave a a concert Worthy show🤣🤣. 

Before I could say  Jack Robinson, my beloved soon to be mommy yanked of the drip. I forgot to mention that she had been threatening to do so, I took them as mere threats, she proved me wrong 🤣. Again sorry I'm not laughing, but I didn't come to work prepared for the drama.  I would have come with pop corn and Pepsi.

Her mum had to step in and plead with her for me. "Small small, naso e dey be,  e go soon finish. Just let the nurse do her work" ladies and gentlemen she dropped the bomb. She really opened her mouth to tell her mum "no tell me small small, you no fit understand "😳.  I was just wondering "she can't understand??🤷🤷 Who gave birth to you and your siblings??  Chai , this pain must be on another level, it just makes you open your mouth waaaa"😂 .
When you get to this point just clap for mothers please👏👏.  The woman just looked at me and smiled, she kept saying soothing and calming words.

I don't want it to be a long read, let em just jump to the part where she had a beautiful , hairy baby girl some hours later 🥰🥰. The baby was too pretty. I couldn't stop carrying her and she had so much Hair.  It's amazing how the sight of the new born sends all the pain into the abyss. As expected the new mum was all smiles and she started apologizing for the numerous displays. 😅

Let me wrap the gist up here. Guys guess what Happened. The new grandma got a call from her son, his wife had just put to bed too!!! Call her double grandma if you like 🤩🤩. But their joy was contagious. The entire hospital was celebrating with them. 

It was probably one of my happy moments as a nurse.
New mommy! New grandma!! Double grandma!!!😝😋 And Happy nurse too🤸🤸💃💃

 Did you enjoy the last baby story? Well if you did ,you're in luck because this is another baby story! This one is shorter with less drama, but maybe a little more emotions and guess what— it's the daddy this time!🥰🤗🙈. Anyways, I'd leave you to decide which ingredient is more; drama or emotions. Again I had another pregnant mother who was also a Soon to be first time mom. I already told you the special bond and love I have for first time moms. Every mom is special, whether it's the first or twentieth child.  It's hard for me to exactly pinpoint what lesson I'm bringing out from this story. I'm even uncertain who the story revolves around— the new mom, her husband, her mother in-law or 🤷. I think I'd just tell the story. One day while on duty as the only nurse in neonatal unit , a baby was brought from the labour ward, freshly delivered, new to planet Earth. Unfortunately she wasn't in a great condition. I'm going to try to describe the situation as good as I can without using any medical jargon. Her temperature was subnormal, her sugar level was ridiculously low, the level of oxygen saturation was scary, you could hear her labouring to breathe— she was grunting, the palms and sole were somewhat blue.   Her situation required immediate attention , so I sent the father to get a case note while I  swung to action with the unit doctor.
